PODCAST: Mastering Music, Mastering Life - Tony (Jack the Bear) Mantz interviews Steve Thompson on his show.

Tony (Jack the Bear) Mantz:

”It's my great pleasure to be able to release my latest episode of ‘Mastering Music, Mastering Life’ with a gentleman who has few peers and is one of the most prolific individuals I have ever had the pleasure of conversing with Steve Thompson.

Steve is an extraordinary engineer / producer who regardless of genre, be it dance, pop, rock, metal, reggae or alternative simply has had the Midas Touch. With over 350,000,000 sales behind him. I doubt anybody has a record collection where he won't be credited.

Some of the many credits Steve has behind him include Guns 'n' Roses, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Metallica, Whitney Houston, Soundgarden, George Michael, Korn, Talk Talk, Cameo, Psychedelic Furs, Ziggy Marley and The Cutting Crew. He has won multiple Grammy Awards and along with his partner in crime Michael Barbiero, was a juggernaut through the 80's and 90's.

During this podcast Steve shares his humble beginnings in Brooklyn as a record collector and club goer to the dizzying heights of super stardom. His life changing experience seeing David Bowie, his enthusiasm for modern music today, the role of A&R today and his mentor Clive Davis, mastering, shares a few anecdotes about Aretha Franklin and Luther Vandross. We cover celebrity and dealing with them. His relationship with Michael Barbiero. He talks about his love of cooking and drops some wisdom for up and coming engineer / producers.

We even cover some sports and talk about collectable baseball cards.”
